Why Is Google Always Late To The Party

Why Is Google Always Late To The Party

Google has been always showing up an hour late to the party now for the past 4 years. They seem to never show up on time and when they do they seem to not come in the correct clothing to the party. What is going on over there? Should we be worried? Has Google lost their driving edge of bringing new applications to the market first?

This summer Google has been rolling out with new applications to better assist their users with becoming more powerful within Google. Well, it seems to me that these programs that they continuously come out with never seem to come out when the trend starts. Either Google comes out with something that has no relevance or it is a water down version that Facebook tried out in 2008 that everyone is already using. The past day or so everyone has been hearing about Google+ Project which is suppose to be one of the biggest changes on the web.

But, as I looked into this new application it seems like nothing that I would be that interested in. Maybe it’s because I don’t sit that much on Google playing around with their tools like that. My focus is more on Google Analytics, Google Docs, and my Gmail and that is about it. Google has really been trying to put more effort into the social platform but they are lacking on their timing with this. I checked out this video on Youtube below about their new product.

Now, it seems really cool but the only feature that I would see relevant would be the video conference but just like how on Louise Griffiths blog how she stated:

Interesting concept of adding up to 10 friends (according to Mashable) in a video chat. Although this sounds really great – I don’t know when I would ever need to use it.  I would maybe do one-on-one with friends and family back home but I can already do that with Skype. What I think it has the potential to act as, is a small video conferencing facility for professionals who cannot meet face to face. That’s my hope for it anyway! My only hesitation is that according to Mashable the screen will change depending on who is talking. Clearly they have not met my friends and I would like to see how it keeps up with the speed my friends talk at, not to mention when 5 people are talking at once. via Louise Griffiths

Now my thoughts on that is the same way. Video would be a great feature only if they have a updated server that exchanges as the people are talking. But, we all know that might be asking for way to much so we shall see. Google’s + Project is on an invite only and bringing in some of the top users to test out their program so they could offer an honest opinion so we will see how that development goes with that.

I just really do hope that Google could step up their product development stage because it has really been lacking the last couple of years.

I agree with Louise, it’s not something we can really anticipate. I’m still thinking of Google Wave, which was pretty awesome but you need to reach a tipping point to make it stick right? (Did I just use two book titles in one sentence? Yes I did.)

  7. @NathLussier haha I think you did conquer two titles in one post. That might be a record right their. But, with Google you never know what is going to happen.
