Use Google Adsense For Websites or Not?
You will hear from so many people that Google Adsense is one of the best platforms to use to make money online with websites. Then your going to meet people that hate Google Adsense with a passion and wants nothing to do with it. My preference is if it makes money then I’m going to use it. You just have to understand how to implement the codes and create ads that are going to offer you a really good click through rate and merge with your blogs design.
The biggest problem that I see so many people do is go into their adsense account and create ads for their website without optimizing the border lines, color links, and text links. If your ads are standing out too much no one will ever click on them and your going to be left with an un- clicked ad on your website.
You want to use Google Adsense but you have to understand that optimizing your ads to fit the design and color of your site is very important!
Now I know this might sound so obvious and it is. But, the question that I always ask myself is why is it that so many people don’t do it?
Make sure that your ads are above the fold line as well. Most people won’t go below the fold line and click on your ads. I’m not saying this is for every person or every website. But, the best click through ads are mostly above the fold line.
The one thing that I always suggest for people to do is think like the consumer on your website. Would you click on this ad if it had bright pink colors as text links and red as text content? Or would you click on an ad that had the same black text links as your website and with red bright orange content for text. You have to test different ads to see which is going to work for your website.
Split Test Everything!
Go with your first instinct that you have and see it through the first time. Don’t try and read too many blog posts on this discussion. Too many people go into Google Adsense content overload by reading all these blog posts on Google without actually taking action on anything. What I suggest you do is take action first and go with what you have knowledge on already and then go and research on how others made money with Google Adsense. A great article you can refer to is by Matt Carter on his blog with a affiliate marketer that makes $25,000 per month with Google Adsense.
Now, don’t get me wrong I love doing research on using adsense but I’m not going to go into research overload without taking action as well.
Their are a lot of niche sites that shouldn’t be using Google Adsense and would be better off using a Clickbank product to make money. But, you won’t know that until you test. Don’t just jump into Google Adsense just because everyone has or is doing it at that moment. Some of the best affiliate marketers such as John Chow and Darren Rowse don’t use Google Adsense in their blogs and they talk about why here:
Their are some advantages and disadvantages of using Google Adsense on your website here they are:
Advantages:
- Google AdSense is very easy to set up. With just a few formalities and once your application is approved, anyone can easily install AdSense on their website.
- One good thing is that Google Adsense is available free of cost.
- The ads are displayed according to the content. So all you have to do is write the articles and the ads related to the content will be displayed automatically.
- The best part about AdSense is that it doesn’t interfere with the content. You can display ads in such a manner that the readers mind is not diverted to the ads.
- Google Adsense can be great if you have a niche blog. This enable you to earn more with more specified ads. Since the users will be more interested in ads related to the content they like to read.
- A good feature is that you can block the ads of your competitors. So if some ad appears on your website that you think is inappropriate or not of use to you, you can easily get it blocked.
- The percentage of payment is highest in adsense in comparison to other pay per click programs.
Disadvantages:
- AdSense increases the bounce rate of your website and reduces the average time spent by the user on your website. Since users click on ads and are diverted to other sites.
- This also leads to the users mind getting diverted, since they are paying more attention on the ads.
- You can earn good revenue only when you have good content. Until and unless the content is good you will not be able to make full use of AdSense.
- Only people who get a lot of visitors on their site on a daily basis can earn through this. Others can will not benefit since the program works on pay per click. So the more the number of visitors, the more will be the clicks.
- Google Adsense has also been affected by Spam Ads, wherein people only create website to take advantage of adsense. Once you click on such ads, they will only divert you to sites that contain more links to other sites. Thus, it becomes very annoying.
- Also you are not paid for the search that is made through your website on Google.
- The two types of programs i.e. is the CPC and the CPM, clash with each other. If you chose CPC, then your visitors will see the same ads again and again, which will make them lose interest in the ads, and if your chose to rotate the ads then you will definitely earn through CPM, but your revenue on pay per click will be lost.
What I want you to do today is take action on Google Adsense and test to see if it will work for your website that your trying to create. If it does then continue to use it but if it doesn’t then stop. Don’t just go by what everyone is saying on the internet because what works for them probably won’t work for you.
Everyone has different success stories with Google Adsense and the only story you need to believe is your own.
