How to Restore Sanity When You’re Not Making Money Online

I know that you’re probably really getting upset over the idea that you haven’t made money online like you’ve seen with some of your mentors and friends. You probably read somewhere that all you had to do was setup a WordPress blog, drive some traffic, build an email list, and just push products and you’re probably going to make some money and fall into the online riches category that few ever get in.

But, reality is now setting in and nothing seems to be working. You have the website, you have Aweber, you drove $22 of Facebook traffic and you’ve lost more money than gained and you’re thinking that this online thingy is probably not going to workout for you!

Yep, that’s what most people feel so you’re not alone. I even felt that way about a year in a half ago before I realized one thing.

I wasn’t learning any skills!

That’s probably what you’re doing right now as well. You’ve probably done everything that you were told to do which was good but while you were doing those tasks you didn’t start to build skills in specific areas to grow your online business. That’s the area where most people tend to not understand because it’s not one of the most attractive areas of business to look at.

To restore your sanity about not making any money online there are three things that you need to do now to put yourself in a better position.

Narrow Your Focus:

  • Learn which areas of your business you’re really passionate about and how you can better master those areas that you’re interested in learning about. This is when purchasing specific products, services, and mentors come into play. When you figure this part out you’re now going to NOT spend money on things that won’t align with your focus. This is what I did and I wished sooner I figured out what I wanted to narrow my attention on.

Here is a list of online products that have helped me:

Create a Structured Schedule:

  • You’re going to need to setup a time schedule of when you’re doing your work for your business and stick with it. Learn when you work best and when you’re performing at your highest level of productivity so that you maximize on the best results for your business. I recently released a video on this called the “Monday Curse” that talks about setting up specific goals and tasks that produce money. Check it out below:

Give Yourself One Year:

  • You’re probably telling yourself you want to leave your job now or you want to make $5000 right now but it takes time. Ask any person that’s a “online hero” to you how long it took them to reach the success level that their at right now and their probably going to say about a year or even more. Time is going to be the biggest thing playing against you and you’re going to need to understand how to play along with it and not rush. As Jonathan Budd says “just become one with the situation” and relax.

These are three ways on how to restore your sanity. I’ve personally used all three in my business and they’ve worked out really well. But, I believe that we all need to find our own way of doing things. So, what I recommend is doing all three steps and figuring out which works best for you!

Thank you for such a great insight, Justice! it's a great reminder to all of us who get impatient when we don't see quick results in what we do. Also, this post will be helpful to those of us, who are about to quit due to being impatient. Keep up all the great work, Justice!

@MariasSelf Thanks for stopping by Maria. It's something I think we've all had issues with in our businesses. When we learn how to become patient and let things come to us we're going to excel in what we want to do in business.

@justicewordlaw great post man. I was in the same boat... trying to learn and do everything instead of focusing on one thing and doing more of it.

I'm with Brendan on the just focusing on traffic and sending it to good offers. It's helped quite a bit with increasing my subscriber list and has helped my income.

@whosChrisHughes Yeah, I'm with you on that. When you start focusing your attention more the results seem to come quicker.

My biggest problem and what was causing me to not really make money for the longest time was not focusing on traffic. Was trying to do everything in the world, but forgot about the #1 rule in internet marketing and that's getting people to actually see the page/website. Now it's my only focus really and things are starting to really flow for me. Good post Justice!

@Brendan Wenzel Thanks Brendan for stopping by and leaving your comment. I was right there with you when it came to traffic. I did about everything else in the world but didn't know how to send effective traffic to a blog post, sales letter, or affiliate product. Instead of trying to focus on all of the social media stuff. I focused my attention on paid traffic and email marketing.
