I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant tan color and we have gone on trips across the Chicago land that I have truly loved. For the past couple months I have been in a back and forth debate with myself about investing in a new car because I want one. It’s not like I hate the one I have and it’s not a terrible car either.I receive great gas mileage since it’s a four cylinder. It’s just wanting some thing new I assume. If you ever get in my car you’re going to know that I’m a clean freak and I treat my car with the respect that it deserves because I feel that that’s what you should do when you own some thing in life.
I have been working on the goal of moving to Chicago in 2012 and investing in a new car right now just doesn’t make that much sense to me. I don’t see me driving that much when in the city because I don’t mind taking public transportation ( I actually would want to do that now instead of driving). My car right now has about 164,000 miles on it. I drive every where I go because when I want to leave a place I want to just leave. With increasing trips to Chicago for networking events and meeting with clients I have taken the train in which has been the best even though I must be on the last train coming back to the suburbs which some times means missing the best drink specials of the night.
With me not investing in a new car and investing back into my business I have made more money. It made me realize that if I continue to invest dollars in my existing car and fix issues before they happen my car would be fine for a very long time. When I talk with friends about this issue and my other entrepreneur friends they all say it makes quite good sense to them not to invest in a new car especially since I don’t like driving or that I’m wanting to live in a major city that you could either walk, ride a bicycle, or take public transportation.
Some people feel that just because you start making more money online that it will be a good idea to go out and purchase a brand spanking new car and some times that’s not a good idea. What about taking that $1000 or $2000 down payment on that car and re design your companies website and invest some dollars into a major marketing campaign so you can make more money. My idea is that if you can fix the issues on a car before it happens then do it.
The One Thing I Hate At Car Dealerships
I know we all have had it happen to us where we go into the car dealership just to get an oil change and the guy comes back telling us hundreds of things that’s wrong with the car. Well, instead of being upset with that person or throwing away that sheet that shows you what’s wrong with your car take that sheet of paper to your trusted local mechanic and get those issues fixed NOW! You’re going to put more money in your pocket in the long run and also you won’t have to pay a car payment either. One of the best gifts I can say I gave myself this year is not paying a car payment anymore. I really enjoy the idea of that because I was paying $415 per month.
Now that money goes into purchasing new products, hiring mentors, or joining organizations that could assist me with my business further. Now, that’s some thing I probably couldn’t do with a new car. Yes, you could say I can get a new car and then work smarter to get to the income level that I would like to be at. But why make it harder on myself when it doesn’t need to be?
If you have the opportunity right now to invest money back into your car by fixing small issues or maybe even fixing a big issue before winter hits then I say do it. Stop making excuses and get to work on it. You’re going to love yourself for it and you will see the results as well.

LOL. I remember talking to you about this. Glad you made this decision. I think i’m gonna hold off on a car as well.
@IAMKJR Yeah, I want to invest more in business and also this move I want to do as well next year. Plus, I still have to much love for my car as well.
Great post! Makes a lot of sense! Most people aren’t willing to do things like this to get ahead. There’s a reason they don’t have money to build a totally different lifestyle, they squander it away!

Their two things I want to say to you Michael.
First off thank you for being on my email list for as long as you have been and hearing me rant about my crazy internet life and also for meeting with me in 2011. We have to do it soon.
Second, your right! People just send their money to a person and it doesn’t do anything for them but sit there and do nothing at all. I recommend always moving your money around and continue to move it around until you can’t anymore.
