How to Prepare for An Increase In Website Traffic

If you’re not prepared for website traffic with your current site then what are you waiting?. You’ve read tons of blogs and books that say focus on this social media site or focus on that social media site for major amounts of traffic but then when you start receiving the traffic you’re not prepared. You have no funnel set to collect emails and your losing out on building a stronger and bigger community.

Story Time:

My website Justicewordlaw.com started out in November of 2009 and I had no idea what I was doing. At that time a lot of people were telling me that you need to be doing videos on Youtube and focusing on driving traffic to your website that way. Well, you see the problem is I didn’t have my website setup and functioning properly so I couldn’t collect their email addresses, and place them into my “knowledge pipe” (that’s my email list where I send out constant information to help you be a better internet & affiliate marketer).

The question was how can I start using a traffic building method when I don’t have anything to offer the traffic I’m receiving?

And that’s the question that you need to ask yourself right now.

Are you offering the people that come to your website some type of freebie gift in exchange for their email? If you don’t have anything of value to present to the traffic that is coming in how are you going to assume that anyone is going to come back to your website or engage with you?

Yes, you can assume that your epic content will have people coming back but how long do you have until that runs out or people want something else?

On my website I present two different items that people can download that will assist them with internet & affiliate marketing.

The first thing is my ebook The Ultimate Success Guide To Online Profits and my second free gift is my 4 week ecourse.

The reason why I chose these two different freebies is because a lot of people truly do enjoy reading ebooks from the surveys I sent out to my community and also I wanted to do an free ecourse for people to learn more about internet marketing strategies and how to take a jump start into the right direction. With these two valuable freebies people have downloaded them hundreds of times and told me that they really enjoy the information that I have given away. So, when I started to gain more traffic from communication channels I was prepared to collect leads for my business.

Question to ask yourself: Am I prepared for website traffic?

If you answer is yes then how are you prepared? What does your “knowledge pipe” look like and how is it setup?

I’m going to share with you my knowledge pipe if you don’t mind and you can see how I operate.

My knowledge pipe goes into 4 different stages:

Stage 1: Offer a Great Freebie to Collect an Email Address

  • The freebies I have given away mostly have been ebooks that I wrote the outline for and the details and outsourced out to a writer to write because I don’t like writing them. Or, I might do an hour or two hour audio of everything that I want to talk about in that ebook and then send my outsourcer over the audio file and they transcribe that into my ebook for me. I’ve used both methods and they have worked out pretty good in each case. Once, I have my ebook I then outsource the ebook cover over to this great designer on Fiverr where she creates my cover for me and then I get that back in about 48 hours. Once, I get that back I have my virtual assistant piece all of the information together and place it on our media hosting account with media fire and then we’re ready to go onto the next stage.

Stage 2: Create Autoresponder Sequence

  • This probably takes me an entire day to do because I like to add 3 months worth of autoresponder emails for campaigns. For The Ultimate Success Guide To Online Profits that starts with the 4 week ecourse and then it flows into strategies that I’ve used, blog posts I wrote, interviews I’ve done, and different communication channels that I’ve been focusing on too. I try to not send to any affiliate campaigns in the autoresponder because I want to add more epic content in the emails that direct to information that I have control over and offer them more information on that specific area. I use Aweber for my email hosting and the system is pretty easy to use. I have my autoresponders going out on Wednesdays between 6am to noon because I like to use the other days for affiliate promotions or to send other emails for my community to look over.

Stage 3: Test For Mistakes

  • One time I launched a new freebie course and the links were totally wrong and everything was a disaster. So, please click through your entire email sequences and send yourself test emails of everything that you setup. I know this process isn’t fun but the really bad part is having your autoresponder sequence not go out correctly and your initial product goes into the trash can too. So, take the time to do this or either have your virtual assistant do this for you too. Either way take the time out and get this taken care of.

Stage 4: Share Your Knowledge with Your Traffic

  • I don’t know why this is the hardest part but it always is. People are scared to share their knowledge with others because their scared to hear someone’s opinion. What I have to say to that is screw it and share your knowledge. Don’t wait for the “right moment” because it will never come and that perfect marketing moment won’t happen either. I felt this way when I first released my freebie gift but I got over it. I understood that it will never be perfect and I don’t want it to be perfect either. Send your squeeze page to every person that you can and ask for them to share it. Offer your product to as many people as possible.

Those four stages are what I focus on every time I release a new freebie product. The process is not hard and I have a good system to get things done in a timely manner. That is what I offer people when they come onto my website. I want people in the internet & affiliate marketing community to know as much as I do through my products that I release.

If you want people to take you more seriously and you want to gain even more traffic then produce your first product either free or paid but do something to share with your community and don’t wait anymore.

What I want you to do, if you don’t have a product already is write down 10 products that you have wanted to create so far. Then tighten that list down to ones that won’t take that much income to produce or man power to create. Then outsource the work to someone that could get it done for you in the next 30 days and on March 16th you should be sharing your knowledge with your community.

Websites that you can look into using are Elance, Fiverr, Warrior Forum, and Odesk. Their great to use and very easy to find people to work for you.

Key Takeaways:

  • Give you website traffic something before they leave your website
  • Create a product in the next 30 days either free or paid
  • Outsource the work you don’t want to do
  • The product will never be perfect just offer value

All good points, when I first launched my site I submitted my very first article to stumbleupon and it generated a huge amount of traffic. As my site was new I didn’t have it optimized and therefore missed out on a lot of potential leads, so infuriating!

The other thing to make sure you’re ready for is a sudden influx of traffic, I’ve had sites get featured on prominent websites only for them to die after 10 minutes, therefore losing out on huge amounts of traffic. Ensuring that you’re in the best possible situation to handle a sudden increase of visitors is very important if you’re trying to create viral content.

    • You want to make sure your blog is ready for the traffic so having a really good hosting plan is crucial. I started to submit articles to ezine and once I started to see the shift in traffic I started to make sure that I had everything in order for my blog. Thanks for stopping by Ben.
