How To Make Money With Clickbank And Facebook Ads

Making money with Clickbank and Facebook Ads has been one of the biggest revenue avenues for me while being online and I wanted to share with you a “how to” post on how you can do your own. I know that a lot of people have never ran affiliate campaigns using Clickbank and if you haven’t then I’m going to try and make this as detailed as possible for you so you can understand where I’m coming from.

Clickbank is a website where you can search for products online to market to other people within certain niches. They offer thousands of different products to market with various commission payouts to you.

When I was preparing for this affiliate campaign it was the beginning of the NBA and College Basketball season and I knew that a lot of basketball athletes were preparing for the season. So, I chose to browse and find a product that would assist these athletes with increasing their ball handling skills because I knew that was something very important for basketball players since I used to be one myself (yes, I know I’m only 5’7” but I did have dreams too).

The affiliate program that I chose to become an affiliate of was a ball handling video course that went over specific techniques basketball players could use. This was a 10 video course that would help these players become better athletes.

To prepare for this affiliate campaign I created a squeeze page with Optimize Press and a 5 day autoresponder email setup to send out very informative ball handling strategies along with a 30 page report about effective ball handling skills. Throughout this ebook I referenced this product I was an affiliate of and within each email that I sent out over those five days was a link going back to the product.

This worked out amazing. Why?

Well, if you setup your autoresponder correctly and your gift then people are going to be interested in this product that your talking about giving away a lot.

But, I know your waiting on me to talk about the Facebook Advertisements so here we go…

To increase the sales of this affiliate campaign I created five different advertisements. Three out of the five ads were catered to men and the other two were catered to women. Why? Well, Facebook lets you really target your ads and the more targeted your ads are the better you can test to see which ad works out the best.

The target age range varied because I was focusing on college basketball players and also parents of kids that played basketball too. You see most kids won’t purchase a program like this. But, their parents would though so that is what I kept in mind.

The ads had interests such as “basketball, NBA, college basketball, high school basketball, athlete, WNBA, overseas basketball, and etc” I wanted to target people that was truly engaged within the sport of basketball and no one else. With me running these ads the way that I did it worked out to my benefit. I closed off a lot of unwanted people that would just click on the advertisements and not take action of the free guide and 5 day course.

You see the mistake that everyone does is drive traffic straight to the sales page of affiliate promotions and you shouldn’t. You need to create a product that covers the topic of the affiliate product and source that throughout the product and email followup sequence. Your going to receive a much higher conversion rate and also your going to be building an email list in a targeted niche too.

Think for a second. What could you do with a targeted list of hungry buyers that already showed their interested in a specific niche? I would say a lot of things. Wouldn’t you?

So, my campaigns were only $5 per day over the course of 3 weeks with a per click amount ranging from $0.79 to $0.87. I didn’t do any pay per impressions for this campaign only pay per click which I mainly go with because I like to track and see the people that are actually taking action.

I spend a total of $375 for the campaign and received a total revenue of $3,000 which I was very proud of. The product sold at $67 for all of the videos and offered a $197 upsell product too of advanced videos with more audio courses to listen too. All of these were good buys that I found to be really good for the end.

Now, I know your probably thinking right now that this sounds very easy and it is but the one thing that makes me different from you is that I took action and paid attention to the niche I was marketing too. I knew a specific time period to market to them and how to really get them engaged. The best thing to do is to give your niche something away for free first and offer quality material and wrap around a product within that free giveaway that points back to the affiliate product on Clickbank.

Then you use Facebook Advertisements to offer this free giveaway to a targeted niche of people that already have shown interest in that area because they have already written these things out on their Facebook profiles. So, your not doing that much work but only plugging in various market research that you’ve already done.

Each part that I’ve done you need to test for your own niche. It might work or it might not to be honest with you. I tried this numerous times and sometimes it didn’t work because the niche I chose wasn’t looking to buy and other times I’ve made a lot of money. It honestly just depends.

Leave comments below on any questions that you might have going over this topic and I will respond to them.

I have a question, to my knowledge, Facebook does not allow their PPC traffic to driven to a squeeze page. Their terms clearly stated that it has to either be a sales page or a free download, but you can not outright ask for the visitors contact information such as their name & email address. So how did you go around this?

Hey Kevin, thanks for stopping by. When I originally did this campaign in 2010 I didn't go around anything. I drove traffic straight to my landing page that I created along with the sales page of the affiliates through Clickbank. None of my ads were taken down and I have done this today too. I've never had any issue with this before. But, thanks for bringing it up.

That's sad to hear that you have given up. I probably will never give up in that area. I enjoy Clickbank way to much for that. What was the issue with that?

Thanks for the reply. So in nutshell, you first created squeeze page, with free report, then followed up with clickbank report afterwards? Im trying to learn ppc, but finding it difficult getting the traffic cheap enough to make a profit. Do you offer any coaching or tutorials on ppc specifically on facebook with some past examples of clickbank products or such you used. Can pay and chat via skype. Thanks .

Paul, That's correct. I did two different things. First I drove traffic straight to the sales page of the product to see how well that converted which was easy because if I got a sale it worked and if not then it didn't. Also, with the squeeze page I offered a free download product and then pitched the Clickbank product after they received about 5 emails set in autoresponder. I do offer coaching which is one on one. If you can send me an email to Justicewordlaw@gmail.com and we can setup a time to talk. So, let me know your availability for the rest of the week. Thanks, Justice

Hi Justin . Could you give us some more information on your conversion rate, and earnings per click calculations? Did you make an custom landing page and then use php script to redirect it? Or did you direct link. What was the payout of the clickbank product etc. More information would be much appreciated thanks.

Paul, Well, for that campaign if I could remember I spent about $100 for the entire campaign. I drove traffic straight to the sales page and then I had a short PDF report created and sent about 45% of the traffic to the squeeze page as well. The people that went to the squeeze page and that downloaded the free report and went through the email autoresponders stayed on longer and about 75% of those people purchased that Clickbank product. I used Optimize Press to create the squeeze page. The clickbank product paid 60% commission on each sale.

The conversions were quite good, since I chose the right niche and doing it around the time frame that I did everything went very smoothly. Have you ever done this yet?

Well, I tried a weightloss program and they said my add was too specifically targeted. Then I tried a cell phone spy - and they said it was just to grab the consumers info and wasn't safe or something to that effect. And they don't like any ads about making money from home - or opportunity programs.

But did you make any money? Also did Facebook approve your ad. I tried setting up an ad but they disapproved because it violated their terms - so just wondering.

I made $165.00 with a basketball guide that I was using that the beginning of the nba season. It did get approved and I had no problems with setting up the ad or making adjustments to it as well. What issues were you running into?

I'm trying to figure out if I can use EITHER hoplinks directly or a pre-sales page that is my own domain that links to the Clickbank product at the end of my review.

Justice Wordlaw IV

If you are just trying to direct them to something else you can do that, but if you are trying to be an affiliate of some one else's product you are going to have to use your affiliate code to get paid. If this is your product that you are trying to get people to be an affiliate of you could use any platform that you are going to work. I have not used any other method yet.

Justice...got a question. Do clickbank product ads work if you are not directly linking thru your clickbank hoplink, but rather to a pre-sell website?

So, are you trying to not use your clickbank affiliate code but to another website?
