How to Build Your Email List

Having an email list is one of the most important aspects that your going to need to be successful online. Sometimes you need to focus on the basics of internet marketing before going into other angels of internet marketing and I feel that email marketing is one of the first things that you should learn how to master.

They’re a couple of things that you could do now to build your email list fast that is not going to take a lot of time to do. What your going to have to do is create a system for your email list and then offer great content on an autoresponder sequence that I’m going to show you how to do.

To many people try and put to much thought into the entire email marketing and then they get to the point where they feel that their never going to grow a list and make money and that’s not the case. They just haven’t put together the right pieces together to build that email list.

Here are the pieces to the missing email marketing puzzle:

First, your going to want to sign up for your $1 email marketing service with Aweber. Their one of the best companies to use for hosting your email lists with their great customer service and easy integration with multiple email programs to use. People try and go the cheap route when starting out and then down the line end up with more issues then just starting out with Aweber. I tried going the free route for hosting my email lists but I found out that most of them never work the way I would like for them to be or I have to wait entirely to long for a response from technical support.

The next thing that you’re going to need is Popup Domination. With this plugin you’re going to be able to create customizable pop up email boxes for people to opt into your email lists. You can track your analytics down to the very last person and have them set into your autoresponders very easy. I have used this plugin since it came out and my email list increased double because people are able to see my free download offer and their not going to be able to miss it. You want to present your offer in front of your target audience at least three times on your website or blog. One time is not enough as we all know peoples memories are crappy and won’t pay attention.

With everything your going to need a gift or a free offering for people to opt into your email list. You have a couple of options with this now that I suggest that you get very creative and be consistent. You can offer ebooks, free podcasts, programs, software, or anything that will be helpful within your niche. I have found ebooks to be very successful and also free video tutorials showing people what they need to do to solve a specific problem that they might be having at that specific moment.

Once you have all of these things setup and ready to go your now going to want to setup your email autoresponders so that you don’t have to be sitting around your computer sending out emails to your lists of people. You setup your autoresponder so that your email list receives an email after their initial sign up of your free offer. I have mine setup so that after their first initial signup they receive another email 4 days later and then after that every 7 days they receive a email that discusses whatever it is on that topic.

In some of my email lists I pitch a product I use and others I just talk with my email list subscribers on what I’m doing in my life and keep them up to date on the projects that I’m doing. You can setup your email list to whatever you would like to use it for but I really do suggest that you set this up immediately so you have more time to focus on your business and not managing and remembering to send out emails. The good rule of thumb to remember is the more good and consistent emails you send to your lists the more their going to purchase from you in the future.

I try to have it setup so that I don’t pitch a product until the 5th or 6th email is sent out. I like trying to build a rapport for my lists so they understand that I wouldn’t pitch them anything that I already don’t have.

This is a rinse and repeat process that I use for my niche sites and the email lists that I manage for my clients as well. I always tell people to put yourself in your potential subscribers shoes and what would you like to receive on the business that you have created. If you can’t figure out that then go to keyword questions and type in your keyword that your company focuses on and then a list of questions will show that you can solve and send into your autorepsonder sequences to build an engaging email list.

That strategy works almost every time.

So, your list to do is:

  • Get your email marketing service with Aweber for $1
  • Purchase Popup Domination and create your popup box for an increase in downloads
  • Create a free downloadable product such as an ebook, tutorial videos, podcasts, etc.
  • Setup your autoresponders and use keyword questions to find good emails to write out
