So, a couple of weeks ago I rolled out with Affiliate Manifesto which was my report that talks about how to build an internet affiliate marketing business. Well, it didn’t go quite as I thought it would and sales wasn’t all that great. But, the learning experience was beyond helpful and I feel that now going into version 2 of the product I’m going to crush it even more!
Now, with Affiliate Manifesto it was my first ever product that I released that was a paid product, and I was very scared that I actually was releasing my product. If you don’t believe me ask Dewane Mutunga of Conversion Cues and he will tell you. But, I rolled it out anyway just for the experience. Now, I did make money with the product which I was happy about but still my expectations like any product developer was high and they got crushed very easily.
So, after the launch I went to the white erase board to figure out how I could manage to push this product through once again and the changes that needs to happen. With the help of my friends and from the people that purchased the product already I received a lot of great feedback, and I wanted to share with everyone some suggesting on how you can gain the courage again to roll out with another product:
Don’t Think Your Work Was Terrible:
Now, I know that sometimes you might think that your work sucked and that you should have never put that product out there, but maybe it wasn’t that. Maybe you should have not put it as a WSO and priced it so low like me. Or use graphics that sucked like ass instead of writing the original ad copy that you had (I’m talking about me in this one). Thanks Chris Ducker for the honest feedback on this. If you did all of the necessary work of launching your informational product you probably didn’t execute marketing the correct way.
And that’s what I felt I did completely wrong. I did not execute marketing that well and hard enough. I should have focused more on paid advertisements, building up my email list before hand, and also trying to find very creative and useful joint venture partners.
Focus More On Building An Email List:
But, don’t focus on the number of people that are in that email list. Focus on the engagement and building relationships with that email list. I email my list pretty regularly and I feel that I should of tried to build a more better relationship with them, along with pre educating them on the idea of affiliate marketing.
The money is in the list as a lot of people would understand, but if you don’t build that relationship with those people in that email list then it would go to a complete waste and nothing would ever come from it. I recommend that you offer a really good incentive away for people to opt into your list and I mean a really great incentive. Something that would make them go WOW, and would shock them like nothing else. Write down some ideas on what would make you sign into a person’s email list and how many times you would feel comfortable getting emailed each week and go after it now.
Build Friendships In Your Industry:
This is so important that I didn’t even do it. You need to build friendships in your industry so that you’re around people that will motivate you to want to continue to build more products and to not give up. Yes, you might do this yourself but being around people that focus on the same things will benefit you in the long run; because you’re around positive people.
That’s why I signed up to go to my first ever Blog World (New Media) conference in Las Vegas in January. It’s time for me to leave my lab (office) and start meeting all of the people that I know online. So, my goal for next year is to go to three conferences.
So, you really need to focus on being around smarter people, that will push you to do more. I realized that being around people that didn’t create products online wouldn’t help me because they don’t know the frustrations and sacrifices that goes into it to really make money online today.
Recovering from a product that didn’t go to well is quite hard but if you start to really build yourself up in some various areas you’re going to be prepared to launch your second product quicker than what you might feel. So, to everyone that purchased version 1 of Affiliate Manifesto I thank you greatly be on the lookout for version 2 coming out very shortly.
I received a big amount of motivation from my Sunday mastermind group that I’m a part of. There the reason why I’m writing this blog post right now too.
